Review: DMV Honors with Marsha Ambrosius

DMV Honors was in full effect this past weekend in the nation’s capitol and GFS Entertainment started it off right with an awards ceremony/concert featuring Marsha Ambrosius.

The red carpet event was being thrown in honor of local boxers who have put this area on the map in the boxing world. They have gone on to become world champions and even a hall of fame inductee. Honorees included Keith Holmes, William Joppy, Winky Wright, Mark ‘Too Sharp’ Johnson, Demarcus ‘Chop Chop’ Corley and many more. The program included a roast lead by comedian Eddie Bryant and performances from Treasure Joy, Reesa Renee and Grammy nominated singer & songwriter; Marsha Ambrosius.

I will admit that I did not catch Reesa Renee’s full performance but from what I did see, I was impressed. She was engaging, full of energy and really won over a sometimes extremely rough Washington DC audience. This is actually my third time seeing Reesa perform in the area and I love the message of her music. The positive energy projected through her music and her outlook on  issues that affect the world is something that people of all ages could stand to listen to more often.

With the final performance of the night, Marsha Ambrosius sauntered onto the stage ready to give the crowd at the Warner Theatre a great show. Her performance as a whole takes you through a range of emotions. From one moment to the next you hear a story that may make you laugh, make you angry or may be something that sets a certain mood. I have never laughed so much at a concert before, ever. Her comedy is brash and may not be for some people but the subjects that she speaks about warrant the language. I may not take a child to see her but definitely for a night out with the girls or your significant other.

Overall it was a great show and we look forward to covering future events for all artist involved. Look for Marsha Ambrosius coming to a city near you. Ticketmaster has upcoming dates listed now.
