‘Big Freedia coming one more time..‘
The Queen Diva has come and left a tremendous mark on the DMV. Since I have started attending shows at the Howard Theatre, I can say that I have never seen a show quite like that.
Kudos to Freedia and her dancers because they left every part of their being on that stage. I was tired just watching them go to work. There was structure and you could honestly see the work that goes into putting it all together paid off. I can’t even fault the dancers (that much) for looking utterly exhausted during the middle portion of the show. However, with audience participation and a birthday tribute to Freedia’s mother they were able to take a break and collect themselves enough to finish up the show.
The production of the entire show was grand from the decor to the confetti at the end of the show and I loved every minute of it. If you want a genuine New Orleans experience without the travel, check out this show when it comes to your city.
If you are uptight, don’t like twerking or just closed minded; this show is not for you. People of all ages attended this show and I think that says a lot about Freedia’s brand and it’s reach.
