On a warm day in the DC metro area, a normally quiet street in front of the Warner Theatre was filled excited fans waiting in line for doors to open. The sold out crowd included everyone from children, tweens and their parents. Harmonizers and Rozers waited patiently for the beginning of the night that they have waited for since purchasing their tickets.
First to grace the stage was ‘Somebody‘ singer, Natalie La Rose. Her set also included performances of her new single ‘Around The World‘ and a song by the name of ‘Roller Coaster‘. La Rose left it all out on the stage in Washington DC. In an industry that is currently lacking the talent of past times, Natalie is a breath of fresh air. In an area that is known not to be very kind to opening acts, she held her own and had the crowd on their feet for the length of her set. She is definitely well on her way.
Other supporting acts included [from right to left] Hollywood Records artist Bea Miller and Sony recording artist Common Kings .
It was time for the main event. Fans were beyond excited, screaming even before the house lights went down and filling the isles before the curtain was drawn. I will say that my first impression of the stage decor was that it was over the top but boy did I later find out that it matched the ladies perfectly.
Fifth Harmony is made up of five very feisty and energy filled young women who have found a way to bottle it up and share it with an audience. You can see the influence of other artist in their stage show. Christina Aguilera, Jennifer Lopez, Mariah Carey, Katy Perry and girl group wise; Destiny’s Child. Their set included songs like ‘Worth It’, ‘Sledgehammer’ and ‘Like Mariah’. The ladies were engaging with everyone in the crowd, from the toddlers to the parents. Everyone was on their feet for the duration of the show.
Do I think that their stage decor is over the top now that I have witnessed their performance? No. It is a reflection of where they are going. You can’t half step anything in this industry and expect to go to the top. By using their stage design they are letting you know that they are going to be the divas that they are meant to be and that next tour they are going from headlining theater’s to headlining arenas. Every group wants their name to one day be mentioned along with other great groups and I am going to enjoy their journey in getting there.
Reflection is in stores and available through all major music retailers. The tour is now over but check out our video recaps below.
