On The Daily Comeup: Marquita Cheron

It has been some time since we have featured an “On The Daily Comeup” artist but we can no longer hold back on all of the amazing artist that have crossed our path in the past year. Today we would like to shine the spotlight on one of the hardest working people that we know. She is an artist, songwriter, actress, musician, media correspondent and so much more. Who else could we be talking about but “The Passionate Soulful Songstress” herself, Marquita Cheron.

A native of the Washington, DC area, the city and culture are very much embedded into the singer, as well as a love for the arts passed down from both her mother and father. Professionally starting her career at the age of 12 in a Broadway Musical, her love for music would lead her to graduate from both the “Duke Ellington School of the Arts” and the renowned “Berklee College of Music”. She has consistently worked hard and taking a look at her list of accomplishments that fact is apparent.

Performing and conducting interviews with the likes of Jennifer Holiday, Kenny Latimore, Karen Clark & Kiki Sheard, Melba Moore, Raheem DeVaughn, Shelia E., The Braxton’s, Peaches & Herb, Chante Moore, and Tony Terry. Who can deny her rising star power?

Her first release “HaahhMark Cards “The LoveTape“” paid homage to some of Cheron’s favorite melodies and rhythms. She adds a jazzy edge and lyrical twist to some R&B classics like “All That I Can Say” by Mary J. Blige and “Ex Factor” by Lauryn Hill. Her soothing voice and calming tones adds something that makes these songs that much better.

The follow up to her previous release will be dropping soon and will be the singers first EP entitled “While I’m Healing“. After releasing the first single, “Emotions Can Interfere“, she has hit the ground running with promotion and performances throughout the area. Cheron has stepped onto the world famous “Showtime At The Apollo” stage as well as performed at venues such as the Fillmore Silver Spring and Takoma Station.
