Can you believe that we are almost at the end of the year, and about to go into 2017? Nope, we can’t believe it either. With 2016 being a rough year musically with the loss of one of the legendary musical greats, Prince Roger Nelson, we kind of are looking towards the new year for a fresh start.
Speaking of the Purple One, apparently we aren’t the only ones who have our eyes set forth for 2017. Prince’s estate, in conjunction with Paisley Park, will ‘party like it’s 1999’ with Celebration 2017, a four-day festival at his former residence. Fans are invited to take part in the event which takes place from April 20th-23rd at Paisley Park. The event will tap into the talent of a few of Prince’s contemporaries, as well as artists whose careers he help launch including The Revolution, Morris Day and The Time, New Power Generation, Liv Warfield, Shelby J. and 3RDEYEGIRL to perform. Other acts will be added to the lineup as well.
‘CELEBRATION 2017 will honor and celebrate the life and legacy of Prince, as the world marks the first anniversary of his passing. Bringing together musicians, creative personnel, special guests and friends who worked closest with Prince and knew him best, these four days will feature live music, panel discussions and presentations on Prince’s tremendous talent, influence and importance as a composer, musician, producer, live performer and filmmaker.‘
We hope that you brought your wallet and credit cards with you, because tickets START at $500, but it’s for a multi-day pass. If you’re interested in going, grab your passes at the Celebration website.
May 10th the city of Baltimore will host the ‘Rally 4 Peace’ concert featuring music legend, Prince along with some unnamed special guests.
It is said that music is healing and with the cities current state of unrest; this show is a welcome breath of fresh air. The event is meant to be a catalyst for pause and reflection following the outpouring of violence that has gripped Baltimore and areas throughout the United States.
As the flyer above suggest, the concert attendees are being asked to wear something gray in tribute “to all those recently lost in the violence.”
The show will take place at the Royal Farms Arena at 5 p.m.
Tickets are on sale now and a portion of the proceeds will benefit local Baltimore-based youth charities. Visit http://www.LiveNation.com for more information.
One of the all time musical greats has always been relatively mysterious in many of his actions, and one of his many attributes is being more in demand than his “supply”. Prince is usually elusive in his touring efforts for many reasons, ranging from doing limited show runs, touring out of the country or just having tickets sold out quickly, but if you’ve been waiting to see the Purple One in action, you don’t have to wait any longer.
Prince and 3rdEyeGirl are bringing the “Hit & Run Tour” to the U.S. for the first time. Last year he spent his time in Europe on a similar tour run that was in promotion of his album “Art Official Age”. What’s different about this tour pattern is that it’s not your standard pre-announced tour with a full list of dates in advance, these shows will be setup in a pop-up style, where a date is spontaneously released with little to no prior knowledge.
The first, and so far only, scheduled show will take place in Louisville, KY. Slated for March 14, tickets will go on sale Monday, March 9 at 10 a.m. local time. No other dates have been released, but stay tuned to Concert Daily as we’ll keep you updated on where you can see the artist blaze the stage.
