Diana Ross, Solange, Mary J. Blige And More Lead The Charge Of The 2017 Essence Festival Headliners

Well Merry Christmas INDEED to us! The folks over at ESSENCE just blessed us with an early gift, which came in the form of the 2017 Essence Festival talent lineup.

They really seem to be on the ball this year with announcements regarding the annual festival, because last year no one heard anything about ANY acts until the end of February 2016. As of right now, we haven’t even entered into the new year yet, and have a full deck of playing cards, NICE!

Now we know who will be taking over NOLA this 4th of July weekend. That’s right, one of the biggest national musical events, the annual Essence Music Festival, slated for June 30- July 2, 2017 pulled a sneak attack and threw out a list of some of it’s headliners.

Last year’s festival brought some huge names in music, with the likes of Kendrick Lamar, Puff Daddy & The Family, Mariah Carey, Ciara, Charlie Wilson, Babyface and many more taking the stages, so get into who will be rocking the Mercedes-Benz Superdome this year…is it anybody that you want to see?

Headliners include a few Festival first-timers, The Boss, Ms. Diana Ross and Teyana Taylor making an appearance and Festival favorites, Mary J. Blige and Erykah Badu coming back to rock the stage. We also see some people on this list who haven’t performed at the festival in a while, most notably Solange, who has had an amazing year this year, but hasn’t stepped foot on the EMF stage since her last performance in 2013.

Also confirmed to perform at the 2017 ESSENCE Festival nighttime concerts at the Superdome include Jazmine Sullivan, Ro James, Junes Diary, Chaka Khan, Shaggy, India.Arie, John Legend, Yuna, Tweet, Lalah Hathaway, Lizzo, and more.

Weekend ticket packages for the 2017 Essence Festival go on sale on Dec. 16. For more information, visit essence.com.

Nile Rodgers Creates The FOLD Festival With Beck, Duran Duran, Janelle Monáe, Pharrell & More

Another day, another new music festival. Granted we love live festivals for all they’re worth, it seems like by the end of the decade there will be enough music festivals to take place on every day of the calendar year. With that said, lets add another one to the list, the newly announced FOLD (which stands for FreakOutLet’sDance) Festival.

Helmed by the front man of funk group Chic, Nile Rodgers, he decided to invite some of his friends along for the inaugural festival. Beck, Janelle Monáe, Duran Duran, Pharrell Williams, Keith Urban, Chaka Khan, Q-Tip, Eric B and more will take the stage on August 4th & 5th in Riverhead, NY at the Martha Clara Vineyards from 3 p.m. to 11 p.m. each day including a children’s festival time slot from 9 a.m. to midday. With the first group of performers already on tap, Rodgers has given us hope that there will be another round coming up, which will make this bill even more exciting.

Continue to keep coming back to Concert Daily as we’ll have more info for you as to further lineup changes, ticket sale dates, and festival schedules.

Chaka Khan Live at Constitution Hall

Legendary Queen of Funk-Soul artist Chaka Khan will arrive in Washington, DC at DAR Constitution Hall for a concert on January 16, 2015. It’s been a while since this 10x Grammy award winner has taken the stage in the Chocolate City, and what makes it even more special is that she’ll be here during MLK weekend. Not many people know that Khan heavily supported the civil rights movement of the 1960s, so to be a part of the MLK festivities in D.C. will bring things full circle. If you’re not in the area to see her for the D.C. date, you may be in luck, because she will be performing another show in Atlantic City @ Harrahs Casino on January 17. Tickets are available on Ticketmaster’s site and I’d highly recommend going to see this power house soul singer.
