So we found out about the initial lineup of the 2016 Essence Festival a couple of months ago. Some people were excited about it, and other people felt like “meh” for having to wait for MONTHS for a glimmer of a talent announcement and not seeing anyone that they deemed as a “spectacular” artist on the roaster.
At that time, Essence had said to “stay tuned” for another announcement soon and it looks like the cat is out of the bag finally. One of the biggest moves that they have made for this year’s festival is throw in the addition of Puff Daddy & The Family. Everyone seems to be stuck on all things nostalgia based, and the same can be said for music. We’re sure that you know, but just recently Puffy put tickets on sale to a Bad Boy Reunion concert at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, which ended up selling out in 7 minutes and prompted him to add a second date that sold out as well. It was a no-brainer that the EMF brand would tap into this and get him to play this year’s show.
Along with Diddy, they have added two hip-hop kings who rocked the Mercedes Benz Superdome last year, Common and Kendrick Lamar. We also now know the detailed night-by-night lineup of performers, and everything seems to mesh pretty well. In addition, you can now purchase single night tickets on Ticketmaster.
We’ve got the nightly lineup below, so take a look…

Las Vegas, aka, Sin City, is a place that people love to visit to enjoy the extravagant resorts & hotels, drink until they can’t drink anymore and of course, try their luck at being the next million dollar winner on the blackjack or roulette tables.
Oh yea, one other thing that Vegas isn’t lacking on is it’s entertainment . From theatrical style shows, residency musical shows, and artist impersonators, you will NEVER miss out on an opportunity to be enthralled and thoroughly entertained on the Strip. The latest addition to this can be the addition of “music festivals” popping up around the city, most notably the Las Vegas Jazz Festival.
Since the roots of jazz are in rhythm and blues, it should be no surprise that a stellar cast of Grammy-winning and chart-topping R&B and funk artists have been booked to perform at the 4th annual Las Vegas Jazz Festival slated for September 27-25, 2015 outdoors on the spacious grounds of the Henderson Pavilion.
Attracting festivalgoers from all over the country for a weekend of live music and lush living at the premier resort, the Las Vegas Jazz Festival opens with a classic R&B pairing of contemporary artist Funky Friday establishing the tone for a weekend of old school revelry. This year’s iteration of the event was just announced today, with a lineup that’s rounding out pretty with, featuring the likes of Eric Roberson, Shy Girls, Kelly Price. Mint Condition, and Marsha Ambrosius. More artist will continue to be added as the months go by, so follow us to stay in the know.
It’s that time again to find out who exactly will be taking over NOLA this 4th of July weekend. That’s right, one of the biggest national musical events, the annual Essence Music Festival, slated for July 2nd – 5th, has recently released who will be headlining their concert series.
This year, a lot of usual festival goers were up in the air about whether or not they wanted to go to “the party with a purpose” simply because the organizers were dragging their feet with announcing not only who the headliners would be, but who would be performing PERIOD!
Last year’s festival brought some huge names in music, with the likes of Prince, Mary J. Blige, Jill Scott, Lionel Richie, Janelle Monae and many more taking the stages, so get into who will be rocking the Mercedes-Benz Superdome this year…is it anybody that you want to see?
Headliners include Festival first-timer, Kendrick Lamar and Festival favorite, Mary J. Blige, Usher, and Missy Elliott
Also confirmed to perform at the 2015 ESSENCE Festival nighttime concerts at the Superdome include Erykah Badu, India.Arie, Common, Floetry, Sevyn Streeter, Kelly Price, Lianne La Havas, Elle Varner, Esperanza Spalding, Raheem DeVaughn, Mali Music, Eric Roberson, Teedra Moses, Avery*Sunshine, Bilal, Goapele, Robert Glasper, Trombone Shorty, Kool Moe Dee, Doug E. Fresh, Mystikal, Slick Rick, Ivan Neville’s Dumpstaphunk, Nico &Vinz, SZA, Dee-1, Tonya Bond Cannon, Leon Bridges, Andra Day, Kindred The Family Soul, Tweet, Jeff Bradshaw and Tank & The Bangas.
Kevin Hart, Trey Songz, and Lecrae will headline the festival’s opening “Now Playing” concert, a sort of soft opening, on Thursday, July 2. The festival first presented a smaller Thursday night event, with reduced seating and only one stage, in 2014. Hart first performed on the main Essence stage in 2012.
Acts will continuously be added to this already impressive list, so keep it locked on Concert Daily for all the updates. You can purchase tickets on Ticketmaster.
