There are many things in life that people enjoy spending their money on, but two of those things that comes first to my head are live concerts and sporting events. We already know that with the way that that the economy has been working as of lately, inflation has impacted both of these industries, making costs of either event, well costly.
The Washington Wizards are helping take the brunt off of that ordeal by offering you the chance for a buy one get one free type of deal. Starting in December, the franchise is kicking off its Friday Night Concert Series, which is a totally free concert after specific games at the Verizon Center.
The first of the advertised shows takes place on December 31st, when four-time Grammy Award nominated artist Tank and DJ Quicksilva will tipoff the concert series with a performance that will also feature a special guest appearance by four-time Grammy Award nominee Johnny Gill of New Edition.
Other acts throughout the months will be:
Jan. 6 – Backyard Band, Team Familiar, and DJ Rico
Mar. 17 – Bell Biv Devoe, and DJ Money
Mar. 24 – Erica Campbell and DJ Enya
Again, these shows are totally free, but only with the purchase of a game ticket for that night’s Wizards game. For ticket information call 202-661-5050 or visitwww.washingtonwizards.com/concertseries.
After what seemed like an extended winter in Baltimore, the weekend of March 12th brought with it some spring like temperatures that the whole city couldn’t wait to see, but that wasn’t the only thing that it brought.
In with the 50 degree weather blew the Baltimore Spring Fest concert. This was the second year in a row that I had the opportunity to check out this concert series, last year being the first. Presented by G-Squared Events, the Baltimore Spring Fest is what you can consider a throwback concert of sorts, set to feature some of the top R&B/Hip-Hop acts of the 1990’s, which if you ask me, was the best decade for music.
2016 sees a resurgence in many of our favorite artist from the 80s/90s hitting the tour circuit, case in point, take a look at what’s being branded as the “Spring Jam” (Spring Fest in some markets) tour. On the upcoming mini tour that sees only a handful of cities, you’ll have the privilege of seeing influential musical acts such as Keith Sweat, Bobby Brown, Blackstreet, Tank, Jagged Edge, MC Lyte, H-Town and Next. Check the dates below to see if the show is coming to an area near you, and although the dates are few and in between, with a line up like this, we can only hope that the tour schedule is extended to a full on tour. Check the tour dates below and get your tickets at Ticketmaster.com.
2016 Spring Jam/Fest Tour Dates:
Mar. 4 – North Charleston, SC., North Charleston Coliseum
Mar. 12 – Baltimore, MD., Royal Farms Arena
Apr. 2 – Tampa, FL., USF Sun Dome
Due to the state of music today and how the charts look on a weekly basis, some would like to make a bold statement that R&B music is a fledgling genre, and in many cases, is completely dead.
Well Durrell “Tank” Babbs proves that is a blatant lie with the recent release of his new album entitled ‘Sex Love & Pain II‘, which many who have listened, says that it’s one of the best R&B albums in a long time. We can’t say that we are necessarily surprised, when it’s no shock that Tank can absolutely channel much emotion through his voice, and have the women feeling some kind of way.
What is there next to do after dropping an album…if you’re a smart artist then you already know it’s to hit the road. Tank has announced his Sex Love & Pain Tour, which will start in Dallas, TX on March 7th. Tickets for the shows are now on sale via Ticketmaster, so if you’re a fella, pick them up for your lady, and if you’re a lady, get your girls together for a fun girls night out.
